Consumer confidence is at the heart of your brand

Having a safe product is just the beginning

European Union product safety standards can be confusing, particularly if your products are traditionally marketed and sold in non-EU markets such as the United States. You might assume that FDA and other regulatory body approvals will be enough but sadly the situation is far from that simple. To make matters worse, you may find that your non-compliant products are already being offered for sale on European marketplaces opening your brand up to the risk of a Trading Standards (or equivalent) “takedown” which could be advertised on the EU Journal, naming your brand and reducing consumer confidence.

Initial Assessment

Writing risk assessments is not an exciting job but it is where we will start with any product that we adopt in partnership with you. This is quite a simple exercise but the end result will be to fully define and understand what your product contains, how consumers will use it in and how the EU will classify it.

Laboratory tests

Some classes of product such as cosmetics will need laboratory test results to demonstrate that they do not contain harmful ingredients. In many cases, data that you have supplied to agencies such as the FDA will suffice for inclusion but if not we will help to ensure that these tests results are available.

Labelling

One of the most misunderstood aspects of EU product compliance is labelling. There are very clear guidelines on what must be included on the packaging in order for the product to be compliant in the EU. We will work with you to ensure that your products are only ever offered for sale with the correct labels applied.

We are proud to work with UK Trading Standards to ensure that all of the products that we represent are appropriately tested, represented and labelled for sale in the UK and EU.
